3M Usability: Eye Tracking and HandTools

3M will be hosting the Feb 8th UPA event. As our hosts, they'll be sharing information on a variety their business products, including a presentation about an eye-tracking study for on-line branding & ads in addition to an industrial design and ergonomics presentation for 3M hand tools.

Glenn Casner will be speaking on eye tracking. He is currently a Senior Human Factors Engineer at 3M, St. Paul. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Montana – Missoula in 2001, an M.S. in Psychology from Iowa State University in 2004, and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience from Iowa State University in 2006. His main area of research in graduate school was in the area of visual recognition (e.g., how we visually recognize objects and people).

Jon A. Kirschhoffer will be speaking on "Trade-offs - A dialog on Real Product Design." He's a Sr. Industrial Designer for 3M Co. with 26 years professional design experience and considerable work with products to exploit the capabilities of Command Adhesive and 3M Abrasive Technologies. He's a graduate of University of Wisconsin Stout in Industrial Design and also an instructor of Design Presentation Techniques Proponent for observational, and ethnographic research

This is a meeting you won't want to miss, whether you are new to the world of usability, or an experienced practitioner.

3M is a world leader in innovative product designs, and their usability experts play a significant role in 3M's success. Long time UPA-MN attendees will appreciate seeing the latest 3M usability projects, while more recent UPA-MN attendees will want to get a glimpse of the role of usability in a worldwide corporation.
