Get a closer look at a UX design process model while learning some key principles that can enable you to make more informed design decisions. We will spend time in a small group activity, prototyping to understand how a clear set of goals and the application of design principles can improve your process and better meet the needs of users.

In this presentation, Ange Wang (Prime Digital Academy), Megan Peaslee (Honeywell) and Christina DiMeo (3M) will present on key UX principles to enable informed design decisions and guide the small group prototyping activity.

Speakers:

Megan Peaslee, Design Researcher

Megan is a formally trained Industrial Designer who has shifted her career focus towards user research. As a Design Researcher at Honeywell’s User Experience group, she helps inform designs and advocate for the user of the product while communicating closely with industrial designers and engineers. She has led and conducted international research efforts for a variety of products ranging from home comfort to commercial security. Megan's favorite part of the process is getting to better understand the needs of actual users and identifying the right problem to tackle. In her free time, she likes traveling and creating custom hand-made leather goods.

Christina DiMeoInteraction Designer

Christina DiMeo's ten year UX career has focused on interaction design in the education, industrial, and healthcare fields. She specializes in data visualization and designing and delivering software within complex systems. Christina recently joined 3M as a Lead Interaction Designer.

To achieve the best outcomes, she leads multi-disciplinary teams in design thinking to understand user goals and business objectives. Prototyping is a key tool used throughout her process. At all stages of a project, prototypes can be used to gain user insights, explore technology needs, and bring teams together on a shared vision.

Ange Wang, Designer & Educator

Ange has built a career practicing and teaching design in its many forms: graphic, interactive, and strategic user experience design. Most recently, she joined Prime Digital Academy to build their immersive UX education program following the success of their full-stack software developer program. Ange is focused on educating the next generation of designers so that they are ready to solve complex, contextualized problems in any industry and any medium—even those which don’t yet exist.

Prior to joining Prime, Ange was a Senior UX Researcher for Honeywell, where she led international research efforts to inform the end-to-end (re)designs of industry-specific products and services. For over eight years prior, she taught at the University of Minnesota College of Design while consulting in education-focused nonprofits and small businesses centered on healthcare and fine arts.
