Celebrate World Usability Day with UXPA-MN as we bring a local focus to this year's theme of innovation.

We'll start the evening with complimentary drinks and appetizers in the private room at Bonefish Grill at St. Louis Park's West End. We'll then see examples of innovation at work in the field of accessibility (spoiler alert: lots of cool stuff from Apple), then close the evening with hands-on exercises you can use to spur innovation in your own work.

Agenda:

6:30 - 7:00 PM: Meet and greet with refreshments

7:00 - 7:45: Designing experiences for everyone: How accessibility and assistive technologies make a difference

In today's digital society it is imperative that individuals with disabilities are able to use and enjoy the tools we all use to share, create and engage with one another. Come see and hear examples of how ingeniously designed accessibility features and assistive technologies make a difference for individuals with any disability. Attendees will be given a quick overview of the concept of accessibility, will see how Apple mobile devices are designed to be accessible, and will see other demonstrations of unique assistive technologies that give a careful eye to accessibility.

Presented by John Newman of PACER Center's Simon Technology Center

7:45 - 8:30: Clearing the path for innovation: De-clutter your mind, push beyond your comfort zone, and create something new

In this hands-on presentation, participants will learn exercises to quiet their minds, get the right and left brain talking to each other, break free from perceived constraints, and use play and visualization to pave the way for creativity.

Presented by Katie Sheehan of the UXPA-MN board
